Hope everyone have a good Monday!

This week is not a good week for me, I spend a lot eating lunch at work instead of packing lunch. I been sick this whole week with allergies and I can’t seem to stop sneezing. The weather been brutal, it extremely cold. I already wearing two layers of pants and two layers of sweater. I guess winter is coming earlier this year. I don’t mind the cold, buy when it’s cold and windy, I get sick easily.

On Tuesday, I went to Planet Bowl with my co-worker. I didn’t play that well, didn’t bowl  130-160 like I use to, I guess it was my off day. After, we went to Wild Goose to have dinner. Tuesday chicken wings was half price. It was such a good deal, one pounds is only $8, but the chicken wing wasn’t that good, I tasted better, but what can you do, you get what you pay for.

On Sunday, I brought a pack of Benadryl for allergies. My boss recommended to me, so I will give it a try, hopefully I will get better. I also brought a sim card for my cousin since she needs a phone in case she need to contact us.

Overall, I need to pack lunch more consistent and eat less at work. If I do that, my weekly expenses will surely reduce. I can’t wait until this week to end since it the Thanksgiving long weekend.

Hope everyone have a good Monday!

Hello Friday! :)

This week has been good for me so far, I only have to work at Wal-Mart three days this week. I work Wednesday, today, and Saturday, all closing shifts. Although, I was sick for the entire week with allergies and cold, I still manage to go to work. I hate calling in sick because I feel bad leaving my coworker closing all by herself. As long as I can still perform my duties, I will go to work. As for today, since I am working double shifts, I don’t really have much plan then to go home and relax after work. I can actually sleep in since I don’t have to work in the morning on Saturday.

I am excited for this Saturday because I be at the airport with my brother picking up our cousin Crystal in the afternoon. She’s going to be staying with us for a year on a working visa. She want to experience what it’s like living in Canada and I am excited to show her around. It will take time for her to get use to Canada especially the winter, but I am sure she will have a great experience.

Random Friday Thought….

  • I was checking my Manulife  profit sharing account the other day and my RRSP is constantly dropping due to all the problems occurring in the U.S. I am trying not to think about it since it is for long term and hopefully it will go back up soon.
  • I be getting  some new dress shirt, shoes, and candies on Saturday since I told my cousin to buy a few things from Hong Kong. I been wanting to go buy dress shirt since I only have a few in the closet to work and it much cheaper in Hong Kong. Hopefully she pick some good style that I like 🙂.
  • Man I wish the NBA unions and owners will stop thinking about themselves and think about the fans for once. I really don’t think there’s going to be a season this year since neither sides can agreed on anything, it all about one thing, money.
  • This Saturday is the Scotia Bank Nuit Blanche festival. For one sleepless night experience, the city transformed by hundreds of artists where people can discover arts in galleries, museum, and unexpected places. I always wanted to attend this even, but unfortunately I am work, I guess there’s always next year. I make sure I will book off next year for it.

Hope Everyone Have a Good Friday! 🙂

Hello Friday :)

It’s Friday! I can’t believe how fast this week has gone by. It’s been a pretty decent week for me. I only work two double shifts this week, Wednesday and today. I like this better because the double shift is spread out so I have time to relax at home. I actually have the opportunity to watch the debut of Two & a Half Men with Ashton Kutcher. I must say I was pretty impressed with Ashton Kutcher, he play the role of Charlie Sheen pretty well. He’s funny, a ladies men, and have tones of acting experiences from the 70’s shows. I can’t think of anybody more perfect for this role than him. Also, Two & a Half Men might be better off with Ashton Kutcher according to the TV ratings. The debute of  Two & a Half Men with Ashton Kutcher drew 27.7 million viewers. This was the highest – rated season premier TV shows on any networks in six years and also is the highest premier in Two & a Half Men history. So, Ashton Kutcher deserve some praise, he will make lots of people laugh for many years to come, I know I be one of them 🙂.

I don’t have any plans for today since I am working the whole day 😦. On the bright side, this morning my co-worker will be treating me a free breakfast 🙂. We went bowling yesterday at Planet Bowl and on one game we decided to make a bet. The bet was the losers will treat the winners breakfast and luckily we won. I play pretty well consider it was a slow start for me. For the first four innings I was just hitting 7 and 9 pins and our opponent already has a strike each. The pressure was on us, we needed something to at least stay in the game. On the 5 inning, I finally hit a spare to build up my confidences and after that I hit three strike in a row! We were up by 50 points, but I keep my focus because in bowling anything can happen especially in the 9th and 10th inning. In the 9th inning I hit another strike to end the game for good and my final score was 175, pretty good for someone who hardly bowl 🙂.

Random Friday Thoughts….

  • I know it’s just three preseason games, but I think the Maple Leaf’s actually have a shot at making playoff this year. They definitely have the talents and I think the key is Remier, if he’s healthy and play like he did last year, the Leaf’s will finally end their playoff drought. I am not a hardcore Maple Leaf’s fan, but I really want them to make it this year because the fans have suffer enough, they deserve nothing less than a post season.
  • What do everyone think about the new Facebook layout? I haven’t really have the chance to really check out the new features, but the reactions from the Facebook community is not good, many complaints about the navigation and privacy. I understand that Facebook needs to constantly innovate to complete with its competitors, but in my opinion if something is not broken why change.

  • I have uploaded pictures of my hiking trip at Ancaster from last week. It was a good trip, the weather was amazing just a perfect day for hiking. We saw a total of five waterfalls and one of them dry up, but the other four was pretty cool. Check out the pictures here. Come to think of it, one of my goal this year was to go on three hiking trips and I think this was my third hike this year, so I actually achieve one of my goal. My first hike was at the Lime House Conversation Area, my second hike was at St.Catherines, and my third hike was at Ancaster. It’s been a good summer of hiking and I can’t wait till next summer to attend more hiking events 🙂.

  • So on Tuesday I went to Henry’s after work. For people who don’t know what Henry’s is, it’s one of the most popular photography store in the world. I wanted to check out the Nikon D5100, a camera that I am debating if I should get. I have the chance to hold the Nikon D5100 and one of the most important thing for me in purchasing a DSLR camera is the camera has to be comfortable in my hand. The Nikon D5100 is 16mp with a side-articulated 3D – LCD screen, 11 auto focus points, 6400 ISO, and 1080 high-definition video. For more details on  the Nikon D5100 check out Dpreview.com.  I am pretty sure the Nikon D5100 is the one for me. It has all the specifications that I want in a DSLR and most importantly it’s very comfortable in my hand.  Right now the current price on the market for this camera with a VR 18-55 mm lens goes for $799. I am hoping there will be sales during the holiday or boxing day, it will be a perfect Christmas gift!

Hope everyone have a good Friday 🙂!

Hello Friday :)

It’s Friday! This week went pretty quick and I guess because it so busy at Parmalat I didn’t know where time flies. I don’t have any plans today since I am closing at Wal-Mart :(, but it alright at least I am going hiking tomorrow, hopefully the weather corporate. The place I am going for hiking is called the Five Ancaster Waterfalls. I never heard of it so I don’t know what to expect. but I am expecting a lot of picture taking and cool water falls. I still can’t believe we are in the middle of September, time sure flies and before you know it, Halloween is just right around the corner.

Random Friday Thoughts!

  • So I get 10 days of paid vacation at Parmalat. I don’t have any plans to travel anywhere during the winter, so I probably will take the Friday off every two weeks. It be like a winter hours for me 🙂.
  • It’s going to be so busy tomorrow at work, it the first day of anniversary at Wal-Mart. Each year Wal-Mart have one week of sales of discounted items like detergent, diapers, paper towels, electronics items to appreciate customers for all their business. I have a feeling they going to call me to work at the front end doing cash.
  • So my coworker show me pictures of the wedding I attended in Michigan. The pictures were gorgeous and now I know why people spend money hiring a professional photographer for their wedding. I hope one day that I can take picture as good as the professional that took my coworker wedding. I am leaning on getting the Nikon D5100, it going to be my baby for a long time. It has the potential to take amazing pictures, I just have to be patient and learn all the features. I might actually take a class when I have time because I love photography that much 🙂.
  • I really dislike the new Facebook photo viewer. It’s slow and the photo viewer is too big which is inconvenient for people who have small screen. Also, it take longer to load the picture because the size of the photo viewer is so big, the picture have to match it.  One more cons is that there no “X” in the corner to close the photo viewer, you have to press ESC to close viewer. Why change something that is already good.
  • I don’t know why, but lately I been working a lot and I miss playing basketball and I miss taking pictures. I hope next summer I get to do more of what I enjoy the most which is traveling, playing basketball, and photography.

Hope everyone have a good Friday!

My long weekend trip to Michigan.

So for the long weekend, I took a trip with my co-worker to Michigan. The drive from Mississauga to Michigan was about 4 hours, but for me it feels a lot longer. I shouldn’t complain since I am not the one driving, but sitting for 4 hours straight is pretty tiring. We arrive in Michigan Detroit around 3:30 p.m and check in at the Marriott Hotel. We unpack our luggage and realizes there was still time before dinner with the Groom family, so we decide to hit the pool. I haven’t swim for the longest time and I got tire after just swimming for like 15 minutes. The hot tube was pretty relaxing, it feel so good that I almost fall asleep haha.

Around 9:00 pm we went for dinner with the Groom family at a Italian restaurant. The family welcome us with warm greeting since they know we travel far to attend the wedding. It was cool dining with a Japanese family, I always love Japanese culture and to be able to experience a Japaneses wedding, I was pretty excited. I was introduce to my co-worker niece Amelie. She the cutest little 4 years old I have ever seen and she so bright and smart. Amelie knows how to speak Portuguese, Japanese, and a little Cantonese and I was very impressed. I ask the parent how they taught their daughter all the languages and they told me they use a language Apps from their IPAD. I can see Amelie will be a very smart and bright girl when she grow up. After dinner we went back to our hotel and I just chill and went to sleep to prepare for the big day tomorrow.

The wedding was located at the Northhill Golf Club. It was pretty nice, there was waterfall and guest can play long rang golf. The decoration was pretty cool they have two Japanese umbrella place between the entrance, and Japaneses lantern attached to the guest chair and a wishing tree between the podium where the priest stand. It was pretty cool and different.

Also, another interesting ceremony practice was that they have people holding a rope across the guest and the guest are suppose to touch the rope and make a wish for the new couples and I find that very interesting. I didn’t get to participate because I got caught up taking pictures.

The wedding hall was pretty nice, decorated with a lot of lanterns and they use fish as the center pieces. I was kind of confuse when I walk into the wedding hall cause I didn’t see the table for the grooms and bride. Usually the grooms and bride table should be place where everyone can see, but this wedding the groom and bride table is locating on just one side of the room. The wedding was an open bar and I had a few beer and one shots with the groom. It was a fun night dancing and chatting with the groom family and meeting different people. It was a great experience and I am glad that I was part of it.

The next day we check out of the hotel around 12:00 noon. We say our thanks and goodbye to the groom and bride. Me and my friend decide to grabbed lunch at Longhorn Steak House before heading out back to Mississauga. We were recommended by a fellow Parmalat employee at the wedding. They said the steak was very good and cheap, so we decided to check out. I order the Kanses 11 oz steak with sweet potatoes and an ice-tea to drink. Oh also one thing I learn from visiting the state is that there are many words or phases that we use in Canada that are similar with the US, but they have different meaning. For example, when I drink ice-tea, it’s usually taste sweet, but when I order ice-tea in the state, it’s non-sweet like water. So when you order an ice-tea in the state, make sure you tell the waitress in advance that you want your ice-tea sweet. The lunch was excellent and it only cost me $14 and I was like that a pretty good deal.

I didn’t get a chance to explore Detroit, but I feel there really nothing to see. I had good time at the wedding, but I don’t think I ever will visit Detroit again unless another of my friend is getting married in Detroit which is unlikely, but I have a great time at the wedding and it was an awesome long weekend 🙂

Weekly Spending Recap for Aug 29 – Sept 4, 2011

I am back from my long weekend from Detroit Michigan. It was my first time visiting Detroit and I didn’t really get the chance to explore the city because there just not enough time in my schedule. My main purpose in Detroit was to attend my co-worker wedding. So this weekly spending recap will be quit expensive and I am not sure what the cost of the trip until my friend give me the total for the expenses since he paid for everything during trip and I told him I will pay him back once we back in Toronto. So, here’s last week weekly spending recap.

Monday August 29, 2011

  • Had a Wrap for lunch at Parmalat Cafe – $6.50

Tuesday August 30, 2011

  • Went to Arizona with Co-worker for lunch – $18.00

Wednesday August 31, 2011

  • Had a Wrap for lunch at Parmalat Cafe – $6.50

Thursday September 1, 2011

  • Had a Wrap for lunch at Parmalat Cafe – $6.50

Friday September 2 , 2011

  • No Spend Day!

Saturday September 3, 2011

  • Michigan trip – $ 200.00 (Just an estimate)

Sunday September 4, 2011

  • Michigan trip – $200.00 (Just an estimate)

Total Expenses for this week: $444.74

I know this week was going to be expensive since I went on a trip to Michigan for my co-worker wedding for the long weekend. I budgeted about $400 for this weekend. I split the cost of the trip with a friend and my friend will give me a total, so I won’t know the exact cost until he tell me. This is just an approximate of how much I spend on the trip. So, the hotel is about $100, gas is about $75, and eating out and social activities like $50, and wedding gift is about $150. So this trip cost approximately $375. It’s not bad, at least it below what I budgeted for this trip.

As for buying lunch at work almost everyday this week, I just didn’t have time to go grocery shopping at all. I work double shifts four days straight, so I have no choice but to buy lunch at work. It was a pretty tough week for me, but I suck it up and had good long weekend in Michigan, so it’s all good.

Hope everyone have a good Labour Day!

Hello Friday! :)

Finally the long weekend is here! It’s been a busy week for me. I work 5 days double shifts this week and all I can think about is the long weekend. So, today is my day off at Parmalat and I am planning to go get a hair cut and go grocery shopping and after I have to work at 5 pm at Wal-Mart.

As for the weekend, I am heading to Michigan with a friend to attend a Co-Worker wedding on Sunday. I don’t have much details of the wedding, all I know is it’s at a clubhouse, so it should be fun. I don’t know how much I am going to spend on this long weekend, but it might be a lot since I have to chip in for the gas, hotel, wedding gifts, and dining out. This will probably be the last big activity for the summer and it’s kind of sad, but at least I can start saving money again, I spend way too much in the summer.

Some Random Friday Thoughts….

  • I been researching for a DSLR camera that I am planning to buy this holiday. So far it come down between the Nikon D5100 or Nikon D7000. The D5100 is more for intermediate level and the D7000 is more for professional and more expensive. I am leaning toward the D5100 at the moment because it less expensive and the difference between the D5100 and D7000 is not that much. I will probably just get the body and one primary lens for myself since my brother has a Nikon too and he has plenty of lenses.
  • R.I.P. Belak, I don’t watch much hockey but I do follow the Leaf’s occasionally and it’s sad to see a good hockey player like Belak, one of the best enforcers the Leaf’s ever had pass away. Thanks for all your memories and dedication to the game. I salute you!

Hope everyone have a good long weekend!
